We hope you can give yourself a little extra time to arrive at the Atlas location you’ve chosen. That will allow you to spend the full appointment scheduled with your therapist. Most insurances are accepted. Your provider will write a referral for you to bring. A photo ID is helpful, and please bring claim information if the therapy is for an on-the-job injury or a motor vehicle accident.
During your first visit, the therapist may confer with you about the following:
- Your present symptoms, complaints and limitations
- Pertinent medical & surgical history, including medications
- Previous evaluation, testing and treatment, if any
- Goals for therapy
The therapist will complete an assessment that may encompass:
- Range of motion
- Strength testing
- Sensory examination
- Functional testing of affected area
After the evaluation, the therapist will derive a treatment plan. The plan will incorporate a schedule of treatments, education about your restorative interventions and a review of your therapeutic goals.
Commonly, the initial focus of treatment is to relieve your symptoms and preventing further difficulties. As treatment progresses, there is increased focus on regaining function and strength. Through it all, your treatment is customized to you.
You may wish to wear comfortable clothing to your appointment. Loose fitting sweats and t-shirts may make some exercises easier to do. We look forward to seeing you.
