Hand therapy is a type of rehabilitation for patients suffering from conditions affecting the hands and upper extremities. Your Atlas Hand Therapist has advanced certification to enable your return to a productive lifestyle. Certified Hand Therapists (CHT) have a minimum of five years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. In addition, the Certified Hand Therapist has successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper quarter rehabilitation. Because of changes in the profession, every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.
Atlas hand therapists utilize their scientific background (biophysics, kinematics, neurology, orthopedics) and combine it with the art of healing through a process similar to a co-creative sculpting project. Each patient’s hand is being shaped into its maximum function –via training, coaching, educating and practicing specific motions and/or utilizing individualized custom crafted orthotics. Our hand therapists can lead you through this personal journey. They are adept and in-tune to the many facets that influence one’s performance and addressing those individual needs within the numerous therapeutic interventions unique to the world of hand therapy.
